LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada State Police (NSP) are investigating a fatal crash involving a 62-year-old man.
On March 21, at about 10:25 a.m., NSP responded to a reported crash at US95 southbound, south of mile marker 93.
Upon arrival, police said a Toyota Highlander was traveling southbound on US95 approaching mile marker 93. For reasons unknown, the Highlander failed to maintain its marked travel lane and traveled into the dirt center median.
NSP said the driver, identified as Gary Earl Oliver, steered the vehicle back toward the travel lanes, which caused the vehicle to rotate clockwise. While rotating, the vehicle hit a concrete culvert causing it to overturn.
According to police, the driver was unrestrained at the time of impact and was partially ejected. The driver succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
This marks the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Southern Command’s 14th fatal crash for 2023, resulting in 15 fatalities.
