LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Braum’s Ice Cream, the popular Oklahoma-based dessert parlor and fast food restaurant, is poised to make its central Arkansas debut soon.
During their Monday meeting, the Conway Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit to allow an eating place with drive-thru service and food store.
Developers hoping to bring Braum’s to Conway had their permit approved, which would make this their first store in central Arkansas and 14th in the state.
There are currently 13 Braum’s locations scattered through the northwest portion of Arkansas.
According to their website, Braum’s boasts over 300 stores in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas.
The ice cream parlor, founded in 1968, says they are the only major ice cream maker in the United States to milk their own cows.
Their website says they are milking thousands of cows an hour which they say provides enough raw milk for more than one million glasses.
All of their locations in the each of the five states are within 330 miles of the Braum Family Farm to ensure freshness, the website says. According to a map search, the shortest distance from the Conway location to the farm at in Tuttle, Oklahoma is a 332 mile path.
The conditional use permit states that construction must be started within 18 months or its use will expire.
