Chetumal, Q.R. — A Belize man found attempting to enter Mexico with a firearm has been convicted. On Tuesday, Samuel “O” was found guilty of carrying the illegal weapon at the Customs Sublieutenant López “II” Chactemal of Chetumal.
Samuel “O”, of Belizean nationality, was attempting to enter Mexico at the Chetumal check point when Customs Officers located the gun. In a statement by the Public Ministry, elements of the National Customs Guard detained Samuel “O” at the tactical point called “entry lanes” of the Customs Sublieutenant López II Chactemal in Chetumal.
They said when carrying out a search of the interior of the vehicle, authorities seized a .9 mm caliber firearm and a magazine with seventeen useful .9 mm caliber cartridges.
Through an abbreviated procedure, a Chetumal judge issued a conviction. Authorities did not provide information on a possible sentence.
On Monday, a Dallas, Texas man was convicted of trying to enter Mexico with a gun. He was arrested over the weekend from Terminal 3 of Cancun International and through an abbreviated hearing, found guilty.
