JetBlue inaugurated its flights between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and Philip SW Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City, marking its fourth destination in Central America.

“We are thrilled to add Belize to our growing network and offer our customers more options to experience unique and popular destinations,” said David Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue.

The United States, Belize’s Main Tourist Source

Belize has rapidly become a tourist attraction that draws visitors from all over the world for its Mayan caves, stunning aquatic habitats, and lush national parks with tropical rainforests, wildlife reserves, and cascading flora and fauna. Located along the Caribbean Sea, Belize offers more than 185 miles of coral reef, the largest in the northern hemisphere.

Michelle Kwan, the United States Ambassador to Belize, noted that the country receives nearly a million visitors annually, of which 250,000 are Americans so far this year, representing two-thirds of the overnight visitors to Belize.

JetBlue becomes the seventh American airline operating in Belize, joining American Airlines (Charlotte/Douglas, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Miami), Alaska Airlines (Los Angeles and Seattle), Delta Air Lines (Atlanta and Minneapolis), Southwest (Baltimore, Denver, and Houston/Hobby), Sun Country (Minneapolis), and United (Chicago, Denver, Houston, and Newark).
