JetBlue Airlines has officially launched its non-stop service connecting New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Belize.
Flight JBU2781 marked the inaugural journey on this new route, as it touched down at Belize’s Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport on Wednesday.
The aircraft, an Airbus A320, carried over 100 passengers.
It was piloted by Belizean American, Jeffery Smith.
A warm welcome to passengers and crew
To commemorate this milestone, a welcoming ceremony was organized to greet the passengers and crew of JetBlue’s inaugural service.
Anthony Mahler, Belize’s Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, expressed his enthusiasm for JetBlue’s entry into the Belizean market.
He emphasized the significant impact it will have on the travel and leisure sector in Belize.
According to Mahler, this is just the beginning, as efforts are now underway to ensure that “the load factors are to where [Jetblue] finds it comfortable”, potentially leading to route expansion.
Flight schedule
JetBlue’s new service operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Flights leave New York at 8:29 am and arrives in Belize at 12:15 pm.
The return leg takes off at 1:30pm and arrives at 7 pm.
JetBlue’s non-stop service to Belize not only bridges the gap between the United States and this Central American gem but also promises to be a catalyst for further tourism growth in the region.
